8 Problems at ISLN Hindering Students' Performance
Author: Bouzrati Asma
Most students are unprepared for the challenges of university and become overwhelmed, requiring them to take additional time to adjust to their new life. Based on my experience I will present some issues at ISLN that students may encounter and that may affect their lives.
First, in terms of work and study
load, a large proportion of ISLN students start working part- time or
full- time as soon as they graduate from high school. The work schedule will
haunt them once they begin juggling work and education. Covering shifts while
also attending classes exhausts their week.
Second, there are financial
problems: student' life is always full of scarcity and struggle. Many things will
have to be compromised in various situations. Financial issues will certainly
follow them to university. These issues in ISLN include the high cost of books
and daily expenses.
In addition, one of the issues that
students complain about is an unmanaged schedule. This is similar to time
management, where they try to find a balance between doing chores and studying
among other activities, and they develop the habit of doing everything right before
their deadline. Having a functional timetable allows them to make better use of
their time
Also, due to the lack of a restaurant
in our institute, students are obliged to have fast food meals, which can lead
to health problems such as obesity. Even students who bring their lunch from
home cannot find a place to eat or rest because there is no place at ISLN for either
food or rest. Students do not have a place to relax despite the fact that there
is spare time in their schedule.
The relationship between students
and administration at ISLN remains strained because of their laws and system.
Besides, there is no WIFI at the institute library so that we are unable to conduct research when we do not have a course to take advantage of the time. On top of this, our institute no longer organizes trips neither for entertainment nor for knowledge because of the coronavirus. As a result, it will be an opportunity to take on new tasks and to spend quality time with friends and family. Our institute does not offer courses or activities for learning or discovering new abilities in the arts or education.
The topic of students’ concerns is broad and encompasses a variety of concerns that must be identified and resolved as soon as feasible.
